What is Walking Meditation?
The rhythm of walking, together with Sophie reminding me to breathe, take note of my body, etc. kept me focused on -one - thing rather than not trying to think of anything at all.
We allow our steps to follow the rhythm of the breath. All unease and problems wash away and we feel peace, joy, and confidence in body & mind.
When our steps are in harmony with our breath, our mind will quieten.
We don’t have to travel far to see the blue sky, the beauty of nature, and to breathe fresh air.
A unique and relaxing guided meditation that combines breathing, walking and paying attention to guide you to your natural state of well being with ease.
Walking meditation is not about taking you into a different world. It's about bringing relaxation and wellbeing into your real world no matter what circumstances you are in.
Wellbeing is always present in your body, mind and spirit. Though often we are too busy with doing, too distracted, and go too fast that we are unable to connect to this state of being.
Therefore, walking meditation guides you to slow down so you can be receptive and accepting the small things as that is where true happiness and natural well being is.
First, the breath slows you down and allows you to pay attention to what's happening right now: physical sensations, feelings, and thoughts patterns.
Second, walking stimulates to move literally from your head right to your body and connects you to the earth, so you can easily let go of unwanted thoughts, physical unease and stress.
This present moment awareness feels like waking up. You notice that everything gets clearer, more colourful, and engaging and that you are curious, inquiring, open and accepting to what's happens both inside and outside. As a result you experience things as they really are, get the overall picture, and bring thoughts, feelings and intuition into harmony.
Once you know how to be present you can connect to your natural state of wellbeing anywhere and anytime. This makes walking meditation a powerful tool for positive change on your daily life.
Walking meditation is designed to let you experience your natural state of well being whenever, wherever.
A single experience can result in:
You currently feel unhappy, stuck and uncomfortable by your life's situation and let this feeling jeopardise your wellbeing.
You're dealing with stress, unpleasant emotions, though you would like to handle it with confidence and ease.
You experience an unstoppable stream of thoughts, creating unpleasant and limiting challenges in life.
You suffer from pain and unpleasant feelings in your body which makes you unable to relax and calm down.
You would like to handle daily emotions as anger, sadness, fear and stress with confidence and calmness.
You want to experience again how to feel good from deep down in your heart anywhere and anytime, whatever you're doing.
Walking meditation can be done in a wide variety of locations, as every single step is an experience. Though every environment will bring a different dynamic to the meditation and the opportunity to rediscover yourself with new senses.
Nature brings us easily into contact with our nature. It encourages calming and healing effect in our bodies, lowers our heart rate, lifts up our mood and immune system, reduces the production of stress hormones, and boosts our overall feeling of wellbeing by just being surrounded by it.
On the other hand practicing walking meditation in the city is a great opportunity to integrate balance and calmness on a daily basis in your real life whenever you need it.
